A few words about… Andorra

Andorra was a new country for me to visit.  At first, I’d not expected to find much beer-wise but while I was doing my research, things looked a bit more promising.  The drive there was a touch on the breath taking side too.

Boris Craft Beer and Blot
Av. de la Cortinada, 3, AD200 La Cortinada, Andorra.

The first place on my list to visit was Boris Craft Beer.  It’s a few km outside of the Andorra la Vella, the capital.  I’d travelled from Toulouse by car but local buses (route L6) are available. The head brewer was just setting up for a tour group but I managed to find a space.  Chatting to him, most of the other ‘breweries’ in the country aren’t actually real breweries.  He did tell me that Blot beers are brewed at Boris though.

Boris only appear to brew three beers but Blot seem to have a larger range with some cans available so I took advantage. It’s a nice little brewery in stunning surroundings with friendly staff.

AndBeer
D’Enclar 84, Santa Coloma, Andorra

AndBeer used to be a microbrewery but is now owned by Estrella. There’s no public access into the brewery or a shop but it does appear that their beers are brewed in Andorra.  There was only one bottle available in the main Super U supermarket in Andorra la Vella.

Other places that were on the radar

Signum – found out that they are contract brewed in Spain

Alpha – somewhere else Google is showing as temporarily closed and no recent social media activity.

La Birreria d’Andorra – a craft beer shop.  Google was showing them as temporarily closed and their webpage was down.  There’s been four posts on Facebook in June and early July and these were the first since 2023 but no reply from them.  I decided not to waste time and visit.

Getting to Andorra

There are a few ways of getting to Andorra, none of which are particularly easy

1 – Train from Toulouse to L’Hospitalet-près-l’Andorre to connect with the two buses a day operated by Hife to Andorra La Vella.

2 – Coach from Toulouse

3 – Coach from Barcelona

4 – Hire a car.  Make sure you top it up before you leave Andorra as fuel prices are so much cheaper.
